GAUTENG, Ekurhuleni - Fortress REIT Limited hosted a local South African logistics and warehousing company, Crusader Logistics, at the sod turning ceremony that marked the beginning of construction of a 20,000sqm multi-purpose warehouse, adjacent to the R21 and R25 in the East Rand of Johannesburg.

The Sod Turning event took place on the 8th of September at the Eastport Logistics Park. Crusader Logistics Commercial Director, Brett Harris, Myen Naidoo, the National Project Management and Business Development Executive, and Jaco de Lange, JHB Warehouse Manager. Brett Harris had the honour together with Fortress COO Don Pydigadu of turning the sod on the spot of what will be one of the first concrete support pillars of the new construction.

The positioning is excellent being just North of the exclusive Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate with the majority of our skilled work force sourced from neighbouring Tembisa.” says Harris.

Crusader Logistics is a logistics and warehousing company with head offices in Durban, Sydney Road, and various warehousing facilities in Cato Ridge (KZN) and around parts of Johannesburg. The company was started in 2001 by Managing Director, Stuart Roos and Commercial Director, Brett Harris. The company services clients in the Plastic Packaging, Automotive, Retail, and Food industries.

Eastport Logistics Park is a secure state-of-the-art Logistics Park with easy access to the R21 as well as exposure off the R21. Travelling time to the OR Tambo International Airport is a mere 10 minutes and, it is home to some of South Africa’s most well-known companies and warehouses such as Clippa, Teralco, Pick ‘n Pay and Takealot.com.

The development of this warehousing facility and many others in the area is a positive injection in the fight toward creating sustainable jobs for people in the greater Ekurhuleni area.

The Crusader Logistics warehouse is set to start operating in September 2023.
